Keaton Beach was still trying to recover from 2023's Hurricane Idalia when Helene came roaring through Thursday night.

Residents of the Florida’s Keaton Beach, whose coastal town bore the brunt of Hurricane Helene’s eyewall Friday night, are now picking up the pieces of the devastation left behind by nearly 100 mph winds and storm surge that reached as high as 15-20 feet.

"I don't know if we'll be able to come back from this ... it's a lot. This is our happy place," a resident said.

Dekle Beach, southeast of Tallahassee, was hit by fast-rising water and winds of more than 100 miles per hour.
