Todd Lyons has risen from running the New England field office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to landing the top job at the agency in Washington D.C.

Todd Lyons, the former assistant director of field operations for the agency's enforcement arm, will serve as acting ICE director.

President Donald Trump’s “largest-ever” mass deportation has led to the arrests of more than 32,000 illegal immigrants within the United States in his first 50 days in office, according to federal homeland security officials.

"We ended catch [and] release, and we have returned ICE to its core mission, which is arresting people who violate our immigration law," acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said. "Secretary Noem and I are changing the culture of ICE to one of action and accountability.
