The New York Jets have hired Aaron Glenn as their next head coach. While The 33rd Team was brought on board to help the team out, such decisions always fall on the feet of owner Woody Johnson. Following the official announcement of Glenn being hired, the Jets released Johnson’s statement on Glenn being the choice.

The Texas A&M Aggies now have two alumni who are now current NFL head coaches. Despite leaving Detroit Lions, where he served as the defensive coordinator, Aaron Glenn is the second Aggie alumni to be an NFL coach.

Update: Jets are giving new head coach Aaron Glenn a five-year deal, per sources, contractually tying him to the organization through the 2029 season. Glenn will be under contract with the Jets through the 2029 season. That’s a solid contract length for a first-time head coach.
