Connor McDavid made history Thursday in front of the home crowd as the Edmonton Oilers forward tallied the 1,000th point in his career with a goal and added an assist in overtime during the Oilers' 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators.

McDavid became the 999th player to reach the 1,000-point plateau in NHL history. Only legends Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Mike Bossy have reached the mark faster. The Oilers star has lived up to the billing that was advertised for him when he first came into the league as the first overall pick in the 2015 draft.

The NHL’s 1,000-point club has its 99th member. Connor McDavid became the fourth-fastest player in league history to reach the millennium mark on Thursday and it fittingly came on a connection with Leon Draisaitl.
