The Boston Bruins have announced that they have placed star defenseman Charlie McAvoy on injured reserve, retroactive to Jan. 11. The Bruins have yet to specify what McAvoy's injury is, but this IR placement reveals that the right-shot blueliner will be missing some time for the Original Six club.

The most noteworthy among those was putting Charlie McAvoy on injured reserve leaving their already thin defense significantly thinner. They also put Mark Kastelic on injured reserve and moved Hampus Lindholm to long term injured reserve. The Bruins summoned Matt Poitras and Michael Callahan from Providence.
