President-elect Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are expected to have a phone call in the coming days or weeks, Trump’s incoming national security adviser, Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.), said

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said on Monday he is going to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin "very quickly" after he takes office next week. He did not provide a timeline for the meeting, which would be the first between the leaders of the two countries since Russia's war with Ukraine started in February 2022.

Trump's national security adviser, Mike Waltz, said the team is preparing for a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. He noted that phone conversations between Putin and Trump could occur in the near future.
