The Cincinnati Bengals are hiring former position coach Al Golden as their new defensive coordinator, NFL Network and ESPN reported Wednesday.

An Ohio home owned by Bengals star Joe Burrow was broken into and ransacked as quarterback was in the Dallas area for an NFL game this past December.

The Patriots struggled in the trenches last season, but that hasn’t stopped Cincinnati from scooping up a number of their line coaches.

"Notre Dame DC Al Golden is expected to become the Cincinnati Bengals next defensive coordinator. He’s informed Notre Dame officials of his decision," Thamel reported. Given the ties to Cincinnati with him formerly being on the staff and the prominent success with Notre Dame -- Golden's return to the Bengals mad plenty of sense.

The 25-year-old switched agents midseason and is now represented by Rocky Arceneaux, the same agent that Ja'Marr Chase has been with for the past four seasons. Negotiating with Arceneaux moving forward is expected to be much more reasonable.

It didn't take long for Al Golden, reportedly the Cincinnati Bengals' new defensive coordinator, to start to mold the staff that he'll work with.

The Cincinnati Bengals are finalizing a deal to make Notre Dame's Al Golden their new defensive coordinator, according to multiple reports. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Golden will arrive at the Bengals' facility Thursday to sign his deal.

The Cincinnati Bengals have hired Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden as the next defensive coordinator of the franchise, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported Wednesday. Golden currently serves as Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator after two years on head coach Zac Taylor’s staff from 2020-21.
