A little more than a week before the NBA trade deadline, the league was shaken up by several reports indicating that Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox wants out of Sacramento, and that the team would be wise to move on from him before he enters the final year and $37 million of his contract.
Fox can be a free agent in the summer of 2026 and his agent, Rich Paul, reportedly told the Kings it would "be wise" to trade him now.
De’Aaron Fox may soon be headed out of Sacramento. The Kings are “expected to open up talks to potentially” trade Fox ahead of the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania . Charania added that “it’s believed that Fox has a target destination in mind.”

Fox should be an attractive addition for any team involved. The one-time All-Star is as productive as ever during the 2024-25 NBA season. Fox is averaging 25.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
Conversely, San Antonio has been linked to the one-time All-NBA floor general for some time, though they aren't the only prospective suitor. Recent intel from SNY's Ian Begley has already identified another potential landing spot with ties to Fox and the ammo to outbid the Spurs.
