According to Sheriff CJ Ball, 100 of the inmates are staying in Jefferson County, with the other 42 staying in Sevier County.

Donations are being gathered at drop-off centers around East Tennessee to send to Cocke County residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which brought extreme flooding and resulted in at least two deaths over the weekend.

As the floodwaters have cleared and cleanup efforts are underway in Cocke County after Helene, local election officials announced Tuesday that registered voters can cast their ballots at a new location.

All this damage is being blamed on Hurricane Helene, even though some locations recorded more than a foot of rainfall well before Helene made landfall.
