According to Georgia Emergency Management Association, Metro Atlanta will wake up to a haze Thursday and possibly the smell of chlorine. And nighttime is when that smoke and air settles towards the ground. It is the reason officials want you to shelter inside in these overnight hours.

Emergency officials have advised residents living near a chemical plant that recently caught fire to remain indoors after 7:00 p.m.

The winds are forecasted to shift, which officials warn could send the chlorine plume toward the City of Atlanta.
