Jeff Passan has emerged as a candidate, along with The Athletic's Shams Charania, to switch sports and replace Adrian Wojnarowski at ESPN.

ESPN is “likely” to talk to fellow NBA insiders Shams Charania and Chris Haynes about a potential role, sources told Front Office Sports, following Wojnarowski’s stunning decision Wednesday to retire from ESPN and the news industry to become the general manager for alma mater St. Bonaventure’s men’s basketball team.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke some news this morning that nobody else could dream of scooping him on — he retired. After working for the last seven years at ESPN as the company’s primary news breaker, Wojnarowski has decided to call it a career, saying that he’s retiring from “ESPN and the news industry” in a statement via Twitter.
