One of India’s leading opposition figures resigned his post as New Delhi’s chief minister on Tuesday, days after he emerged from prison on bail in a bribery case.

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Delhi minister Atishi will take over as the new chief minister of India's national capital territory after the resignation of incumbent Arvind Kejriwal, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party said on Tuesday.

India's top court released him on bail on Friday, on the condition that he refrain from commenting publicly on the merits of the case. Mr Kejriwal is the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, which originated as a popular anti-corruption movement,
