The suspect alleged to have shot two Louisville Metro Police officers Tuesday night has been arrested. LMPD arrested 19-year-old Jeremiah Thompson, of Louisville, Wednesday morning at 1:18 a.m.Sign up for our NewslettersThompson is charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault of a police officer, wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, and receiving stolen property.LMPD said Tuesday night, a little after 8 p.m., two officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Roselane Street on the report of a stolen vehicle with a broken window. That's in the Smoketown neighborhood.When they got there, the officers found Thompson standing in front of a residence next to the stolen vehicle.After police say he admitted driving the stolen vehicle, they tried to detain him.LMPD said Thompson began resisting, and officers took him to the ground.As he was face down with the officers trying to get control of his hands, they said he fired a round from a Glock 26.Police said the round Thompson fired struck him in his torso and right arm while also striking one of the officers in the right hand and the other officer in the left leg near the knee. The officer shot in the hand was seriously injured and required surgery.A third officer who was also trying to get control of Thompson was not struck by the bullet.The Glock 26 was later determined to have two serial numbers.Thompson was taken to Jewish Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries before being arrested and booked at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.The LMPD officers were taken to UofL Hospital. It is not known whether the officers are out of the hospital yet. Thompson is set to be arraigned in court Thursday morning.
