Oliver Oakes resigned as Alpine F1 team principal on Tuesday night just days after his brother was arrested, it has been revealed.

LONDON (AP) — Alpine announced Tuesday that Oliver Oakes resigned as team principal after less than a year in the role. The Formula 1 team is ninth in the constructors’ standings and reportedly was on the verge of replacing rookie driver Jack Doohan with Franco Colapinto.

Alpine announced Tuesday that Oliver Oakes resigned from his position as team principal, which was accepted by the team with immediate effect. Flavio Briatore, the team’s executive advisor, will assume Oakes’ responsibilities while continuing his advisory duties.
