The Pittsburgh Pirates have fired manager Derek Shelton following a rocky opening month to the season that saw Pittsburgh quickly slip into last place in the NL Central.

The Pirates announced on Thursday that manager Derek Shelton has been fired following their 12-26 start to the 2025 campaign. Bench coach Don Kelly has been promoted to manager to replace him.
