Rep. Clay Higgins deleted a social media post Wednesday calling Haitian immigrants “thugs” following condemnation from many of his colleagues.

Higgins took to X to spread false claims that Haitian immigrants were “eating pets,” further escalating his attack with racist tropes by labeling them “thugs” and calling Haiti “the nastiest country in the Western hemisphere.
